These were the mixes I was working on for the first album before I worked with Andy Tillison. Without under-selling, this is an inferior ‘nearly there’ version compared to the final album. Nevertheless, I thought it would be nice to publicly document this.

You may be surprised by how similar these mixes sound to the finished product, but there are some notable differences. For example, the demo version of V misses Andy’s piano and Theo’s flute; Being and Time and Eternal Return were edited later in places; and The Noble Shirker is shorter here, lacking the minimal introduction and outro, which I had the idea for early on, but was implemented late in the process. There are plenty of other changes and developments across the album, which I hope you can spot.

There’s a short track called End of an Ear, with Caroline on voice, which I really like, but I decided not to include on the final release because I felt that it didn’t fit in the context of the album. I remember when Andy first heard this; he said that it sounded like a HBO series soundtrack haha. Hope you enjoy! –R
